The department of Computer Science at Whitman College invites applicants to join our community of faculty and student scholars who engage with computing in the classroom, in academic research, and in interdisciplinary collaborations. The department strives to foster a welcoming learning community, with an emphasis on active learning and collaborative problem solving, for students who reflect the full diversity of Whitman’s student body. Our faculty and students engage in diverse forms of scholarship, including collaborations in artistic production and scientific applications, community-based research and learning with local schools and indigenous populations, and pedagogical research, in addition to traditional conference and journal publications. In addition to traditional areas of computing research, we welcome candidates working in interdisciplinary, emerging, and socially engaged areas.
